We have a limited amount kids fishing rods that
will be loaned on a first come basis.
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies for Lions, Tigers, Wolfs, Bears, Webelos,
Scouts BSA, Venturing, Exploring, Sea Scouts, & Registered Adult Scouters
The mission of this tournament is to bring the joy of fishing to youth and adults alike. The experience of catching and landing a fish makes great memories and new anglers. We ask that participants are allowed to reel in their own catches until help is needed ( A scout is helpful).
…Rules…
1. It is the participant’s responsibility to read and understand the rules and requirements of this event.
2. At this tournament there will be pictures/video taken. By registering for this tournament, you release all rights to any pictures/video taken at the event.
3. Contestants 17 years or older must posses a current Texas Parks & Wildlife Department [TPWD] fishing license with the proper saltwater stamps.
4. Contestants not required to have a valid TPWD fishing MUST be accompanied by an adult who possesses a valid TPWD saltwater fishing license.
5. Non-registered fishing is prohibited and can be cause for disqualification.
6. Lines are only to be cast at the start of the tournament and not before.
7. 10:00a.m.will be the start of the tournament.
8. Fishing shall only be done from the assigned areas within the Laguna Station.
9. Participants fishing at Laguna Station shall only fish from the shoreline. Wading, kayaking, or boating in the immediate area of Laguna Station will not be permitted.
10. Entering a fish to be measured will be from 10:00a.m. to 2:00p.m.only.
11. Participants measuring fish must be at the measurement table by 2:00p.m.to avoid being disqualified.
12. Fish will be measured only. In case of a tie the 1st fish (earliest time) measured wins
Example:
•1st place - 16 inch whiting caught at 11a.m.
•2nd place – 16 inch whiting caught at 11:15a.m.
13. All game fish caught shall be measured and released live (unless the fish is within the state and federal regulation and will be kept for consumption).
14. All non-game fish shall be measured and released live (unless it shall be used as bait).
15. Stingrays (any type), eels, sea snakes, or crabs are not eligible for tournament
16. Assistance to remove hooks from sharp toothed fish such as Cutlass fish (ribbon), sharks, king, mackerel or fish that pose a risk should be asked to help from committee members.
17. Each registered contestant will be entitled to enter only one fishing rod.
18. All tournament fish must be caught by rod and reel only.
19. Baits: artificial, shrimp, squid, and cut only.
20. Tackle will be limited to two hooks. (J style of treble.)
21. All participants are expected to keep their area clean and collect trash during and prior to leaving.
22. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated and can result in disqualification.
23. Judges will have the final say in all decisions.
