| Scouts, BSA Scouts, BSA is for boys and girls who have completed the Arrow of Light or have completed the fifth grade or who are between the ages of 11 and 17 years old. The program helps developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness qualities among youth by focusing on a vigorous program of outdoor activities. The Purpose of the Boy Scouts of America: - To provide a program for community organizations that offers effective character citizenship and personal fitness training for youth
- To develop American citizens who are physically, mentally, and emotionally fit
- To develop a degree of self-reliance(initiative, courage, and resourcefulness)
- To have personal values based on religious concepts
- To have the desire and skills to help others
- To take pride in their American heritage and understanding our nation’s role in the world
- To be prepared to participate in and give leadership to American society
Who Pays For It? - Youth pay their own way by contributing Troop dues.
- The Troop obtains income on approved fundraising projects.
- The RGV community provides support through the United Way, Friends of Scouting, and special contributions.

- The National BSA Office owns and operates three camps:
Volunteer Leadership: - Serve in a variety of positions as unit leaders:
- Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, Committee Chairman, Troop Committees, Merit Badge Counselors, and Chartered Organization Representatives
- Boy Scouting is made available to community youth organizations having similar interest.
